To be enjoyed immediately after birth.
This pre-birth ritual has been a tradition in Christina’s midwifery practice for over 8 years. When labor begins, we start a big pot of postpartum tea. It smells so good and is a wonderful grounding practice. It’s such a lovely experience to give mama a warm nourishing cup of tea right after she births. This tea is also useful to help release placenta easily and to reduce bleeding, the cinnamon has a warming quality to increase circulation, improve digestion and restore energy. You can add a generous dose of honey to the cup, as the honey helps raise mama’s blood sugar and give her a perfect little energy boost.
This tea is also useful for a mama when she gets home from her birth center or hospital birth.
“Every mama I have served this tea to has raved about how good it was and how it made them feel loved and warm.” ~Christina
For a single tea bag of herbs, this tea packs quite a punch as it makes 5 quarts of prepared tea. Enough to keep mama sipping for the first couple days postpartum.
How to prepare:
Bring a 5 quart pot of water to boil, turn down to simmer and place tea bag in pot. Simmer on low for 50 minutes. Turn off heat and take out tea bag. Always serve warm with a healthy dose of honey. Happy postpartum!
